Spaghetti Pie

This is a favorite for my family. I like it because it can be made in advance, ready to pop in the oven. The recipe calls for mozzarella cheese, but I usually top with whatever I have on hand. We’re partial to Monterey Jack or Colby-Jack, a mild cheese that melts and blends easily.

Spaghetti Pie

  • 1 pkg. (8 oz.) Spaghetti
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup chopped green peppers
  • 1/3 cup chopped onions
  • garlic as desired
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 jar prepared spaghetti sauce
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese

–> COOK Spaghetti as directed on package; drain. Place in large bowl. Add eggs and the grated Parmesan Cheese; mix lightly. Press onto bottom and up side of baking dish to form shell.

PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Melt butter in large skillet. Add peppers, garlic and onions; cook and stir until tender. Remove and set aside. Brown hamburger; drain. Stir in the sauce and pepper/onion mix; simmer 10 min.; stirring occasionally. Spoon over the spaghetti crust.

BAKE 25 min. Top with mozzarella cheese; continue baking 5 to 10 min. or until cheese is melted.Another favorite is our version of “garlic bread” – I butter hot dog buns and sprinkle on a little garlic salt; then slip in the oven for 15 minutes. Yummm!
