Home on the Porch

I love sitting on the front porch.  My favorite place is a porch swing, but I’ve found they can be hazardous to little heads, so I set my sights on getting ahold of some wicker furniture I could put my stamp on.  Finding this on Craigslist, I set out to paint it and update the cushions.  First I used a wire brush to loosen and remove some of the old paint, then we used a vacuum and damp cloth to finish cleaning.  Lexi and I ruined our pointer fingers and got goofy on spray paint fumes getting it to this pretty shade of brown.  Lest you think this is the “cheapest” way to go, it took us E.L.E.V.E.N. cans of spray paint and we didn’t finish all of the bottoms.  I did purchase one specifically for outdoor and wicker, but I didn’t expect it to take that much paint.    I picked out a coordinating fabric and recovered the cushions and made 2 cases for throw pillows.  I plan to change the covers with the seasons – and this was perfect for late summer.
